Rose Heeter, Actress, Founder, The 7 X 7 Foundation
So who is the beauty who helped super-star actress Sharon Stone win her 1996 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the movie, "Casino?"
Why it’s Las Vegas’ own multitalented actress, body double, stand-in, stunt woman, director, trainer, teacher and EMT, Rose Heeter. Readers probably recognize her work from one of over 300 movies, theatre productions, TV shows and commercials she’s worked in, both in front of the camera, as well as behind the scenes.
Growing up, Heeter became "a self-proclaimed tomboy." Her family, in-cluding her mom and five brothers and sisters, moved to Las Vegas after her father suffered a stroke. Young Rose was only 3.
"My mom, a former second grade teacher, heard you could make a great deal of money as a cocktail waitress and landed a job as one of the first three female blackjack dealers at Caesars.
"I worked 12 years as an EMT for Mercy Ambulance right here in Las Vegas," states Heeter. "I learned about life and death at an early age. I found out at any second you could die. If you are not playing your game full out, you are wasting your time."
Heeter decided to get into acting solely to relieve the 24/7 repetition and stress of day-to-day emergency work. "When I get up on stage acting, I’m on fire. I love it. I’m elated at the energy of the audience.
"Marilee Lear, the president of Lear Entertainment, has done so much for my career," Heeter says of her mentor. "She has a heart of gold. Her strength, her passion and her energy have helped so many actors.
"She called me in to audition as Sharon Stone’s stand-in for the movie ‘Casino.’ Sharon had already gone through interviewing 170 girls in Las Vegas and Arizona. I had probably been in over 100 shows before I was interviewed by her." To make a long story short, Heeter got the role and has worked with Sharon on most all of her films over the past 10 years.
Who could ever forget "Vegas Vacation" with Chevy Chase and Christie Brinkley? Well, it was Rose Heeter who was Christie’s stunt double. She has worked on films such as "Con Air," coordinating over 3,000 extras. In addition to working alongside Robert DiNero, Joe Pesci and Martin Scorsese in "Casino" she has worked with Aaron Spelling, Albert Brooks and Kim Bassinger.
In her busy off-screen life, Heeter is a 22-year active member of Central Christian Church. The actress also is truly passionate about teaching many young actors in her incredible "Kidz Get Cast!!!" full-day workshops. Plus, her 7 X 7 Foundation helps provide homeless children with a positive summer camp experience each year.
For entertainment, Heeter loves the great service at the Palms Hotel and Casino, as well as the ultraexclusive Stirling Club. "I like the high energy at the Palms. Rain is my top favorite, with the skyboxes, and N9ne, the chef is unbelievable, the best food I’ve ever tasted. I love being there at sunset. Las Vegas has such a great nightlife," states our Vegas connoisseur.
"I fell in love with Las Vegas, the champagne, and the excitement. I want to help make a difference in the lives of those I am around. Life is meant to celebrate." There is no doubt this beautiful Rose will continue to make the red hot Las Vegas desert one cool place to celebrate life.
