Clint Holmes, Entertainer, Headliner, Harrah's Las Vegas

Tremendous talent. Where does it come from? With an African-American father as a jazz musician and a mother as a classically trained British opera singer, the two create a unique combination. Add a very powerful voice, magnetic stage presence, silky vocals, dancing, comedy, suave elegance, passion, high energy, a zest for life and a smokin’ hot band with some of the best singers and dancers, and what do you have?

You come up with the multi-talented Clint Holmes, headliner at Harrah’s Las Vegas, who is consistently voted the "Best Singer in Las Vegas." Holmes shares his amazing journey through his inspiring life story and connects with his audience like no other.

"My mom taught me how to sing correctly, and my dad taught me how to enjoy it," says Holmes. "I’ve had great teachers. Not only vocal teachers, but also Bill Cosby, Joan Rivers and Sammy Davis Jr. Probably, Cosby would be my single greatest influence. He told us for years, do your own songs. Tell your own stories. Be truthful and work, work, work, every night on your craft and keep learning."

Clint Holmes, Jim Bickford and Bill FayneHolmes started singing at age 8, was a voice major at New York’s Fredonia State College, performed in Buffalo nightclubs, and was a musician and singer while in the Army. He spent 10 years in Washington, D.C., and was a member of the Army Chorus when he sang at the White House. He worked the East Coast clubs, became a top performer in Atlantic City and had covered the world performing nearly everywhere before finally calling Las Vegas home in 1999.

"In 1987, Prince Albert of Monaco came to see Bill Cosby, who we were opening for. Prince Albert loved our show so much he asked us to come over to Monte Carlo, which we did during the summer. That was a big night in our lives and in our careers."

Clint Holmes has done it all. Early in a varied career, he had a top 10 hit, "Playground In My Mind (My Name is Michael)." He also was selected as the voice in the Lowenbrau commercials and even hosted his own Emmy Award-winning talk/variety show called "New York at Night."

Every performance is an original. Cas-ual elegance best describes Holmes’ presence on stage. His musical talents range from contemporary to classic, with jazz and opera thrown in.

"I love the game of tennis. I’ll tell you a quick story of how I got started playing. At age 22, I was going to the Bahamas to perform for seven weeks. A good friend, Rick Davis, was a tennis pro in Washington, D.C. He brought me over some tennis gear and said to take it on the trip in case I got bored. So, I am there about two weeks and Sidney Poitier comes to the show. We talk after the show and he asks if I play tennis. I said, sure. He invited me to the Ocean Club. Since then, tennis has become a passion for me.

"Tennis, that’s how I got to know Tony Bennett through Marty Hennesey, the tennis pro at the Stirling Club. Tony loves to play tennis. A friend of mine just gave me this for my birthday. A photo of me and Tony and a plaque. On the court, Tony said to me, ‘Count Basie is the earth, Duke Ellington is the sky and Satchmo is God.’ Tony is tops. I can’t wait to show him this."

Clint Holmes, along with musical director Bill Fayne and their multi-talented 12-piece band, and amazing singers and dancers, continue to raise the roof at Harrah’s Las Vegas. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind show, which shares Holmes’ unforgettable journey of heart, soul, truth and hope.
